EXHIBITION STATEMENT

Featuring the digital works of Yanming Deng and Mohammad Adil Hussain, Melting CNY (2021) and The Museum of Everyday Life (2023), respectively, and the porcelain sculptures of Maro Sugimoto, Visiting Picnic (selected parts of work My porcelain dolls) (2023), Untitled (genoise assort) (2023), and Untitled (pierrot family) (2023), the works in this exhibition pay acute attention to everyday objects, and explore the capacity for objects to be the containers of memory and meaning. Although approaching an appreciation of quotidian items from slightly different lenses, the works in this exhibition all shine a spotlight on the material objects which form the fabric of our everyday worlds, or have informed previous worlds, and selves.
